I've come to discover that there are some patterns that I never get tired of making. One is the Handmade Hat that I posted about a few entries ago. I can't stop making these!! LOL I've made 3 so far and I've got 2 more on the needles.
Another pattern that I'm learning to love is the Caribbean Scarf
I'm using this to make an afghan for my best friend's Mom. I've always been a big fan of motif/strip patterns and even though this is a scarf pattern, it lends itself quite well to making an afghan. I know that there's an afghan with the same stitch pattern as the scarf... but I dread huge numbers of stitches on my needles and I wanted it to look a certain way so doing strips is working well for this.
I'm using Simply Soft in most of the rose like shades they have (well, all that I could find in the stores...). I'm adding in sage and dark sage to make it look like a rose garden. I had to go out and buy size 11 needles because, for the life of me, I couldn't find any of my size 11s. I know they're around here somewhere but... I just can't find them so I got 2 sets of short straights. I was going to use circs but... the ones that they had at Jo Ann's were those icky plastic ones. I have a pair of those here and I did try them... hard to work with and I wanted this project to fly so, I went with basic Boye straights. So far, I'm seriously loving how it's looking and the yarn is just so soft.... I really need to send my g/f some of that.
Another pattern that I've done a lot of is the Seraphina shawl. I think I posted about that way in the beginning... I've done 4 shawls from that pattern and I'll probably do more in the future.
In fact, I ran across the charcoal gray Shetland Chunky that I had been looking for. I have about 5-6 skeins of it and now, I'm trying to think of what I can do with this yarn. I'm tempted to make another Seraphina but I really want a cardigan too. I think I have enough, if I add in the off white that I have of that same yarn. Or, adding it to the rest of the SC that I have and using the same pattern that I'm using for the above mentioned afghan for one of my own. Hmm.... It's been a while since I made an afghan (although, I have a few in progress...).
Another pattern stitch that I've used quite a lot is crocheted V stitch. I have 2 lapghans that I made for my parents years ago that I still have here. I really should donate them.
